INSIGHT
Brand Refresh Goal
I was hired to redesign Josiah’s old butterfly logo into something fresh, professional, and more reflective of his evolving work. Along with the new mark, I created business cards to complete his updated visual identity.

IDEA
The Solution
The butterfly remained Josiah’s mascot, symbolizing growth and transformation. To make it more personal, his initials were woven into the mark. What began as a playful, graffiti-inspired concept evolved into a cleaner, more structured logo that better represents his photography style.

Logo Exploration & Refinement
The logo went through several rounds of adjustment, fine-tuning proportions, balance, and form. Each revision brought more clarity and control to the design, resulting in a mark that feels confident, personal, and timeless.

Structure & Scale
This section highlights the proportional system and clear-space rules behind the logo. It demonstrates how the logo's measurements create balance and consistency across different applications.

Color
The brand uses off-white and black for a simple, balanced look. The palette reflects the contrast in Josiah’s black-and-white photography and the cream tones often found in his color work.

Typography
The primary brand typeface is Headline Gothic ATF Round, chosen for its bold look and feel. The type pairs well with the logo’s clean geometry and thickness.
From Old to New
The new logo builds on the same butterfly idea from the original, but refines it with stronger structure and clarity to better reflect Josiah’s creative identity.
